These third-party community events are planned, advertised and executed by people in our local community who wish to support the mission of Calvert Hospice.
Some examples of such events include:
The Poker Run for Calvert Hospice
For ten years, Chris Bowen and Heather Scott have hosted the Poker Run in June to raise thousands of dollars in support of Calvert Hospice. Participants pay a fee to travel throughout Southern Maryland by motorcycle or car, making stops at different venues to pick up a card for ‘their hand’ and finish up back at their starting point. Participants end their ride with a party, enjoying music by DJ Rick, great food, and door prizes.
5K Fun Run/Walk for Calvert Hospice
Each fall The Calvert County Bar Association hosts a 5K to raise funds and awareness of Calvert Hospice. Event will be held in November 2017!
Michael D. Schrodel Golf Classic
Each year, the Michael D. Schrodel Golf Classic is held in honor of its namesake, who passed away at the young age of 29 of cancer. The golf classic is held by his college fraternity brothers with benefits going to a scholarship in his name at Frostburg University, a college fund for his daughter who was two at the time of his death, and also for Calvert Hospice. Each year, the Schrodel family has presented a check to Calvert Hospice for thousands of dollars to support our mission.
The Unique Boutique was held November 12 and 13, 2016 at Calvert High School. The event featured fine art and a selection of crafts, all for purchase in time for the holiday season. Calvert Hospice had its own table of donated artwork and crafts for sale. We want to thank everyone who came and supported hospice!
In honor of National Hospice & Palliative Care Month, the following restaurants in Calvert County helped us raise awareness and necessary funds to support our patients and families. Thank you to everyone who ate at these restaurants during November 2016.
