You can help give a grieving child hope this #GivingTuesday by donating to our children’s programs. #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
When a child loses a loved one, their grief affects behavior, physical health, emotional health, and more. Calvert Hospice’s children’s programs confront the adverse effects of grief by helping children learn positive coping skills and gain tools and techniques for dealing with their feelings, and offering them a safe place to share about their experiences. Your #GivingTuesday gift will directly support Brittanny Wilson’s (Child & Teen Bereavement Coordinator) efforts in the county. She currently offers Camp Phoenix in the summer, the Bridges support group for families twice a year, and she is facilitating several grief support groups in many of the elementary, middle, and high schools in Calvert County. Ms. Wilson has plans to expand the grief programs in the schools, offer more individual counseling sessions, offer play therapy through use of puppets, and more, but she is working with a limited budget. This year, Calvert Hospice is asking you to offer hope to the grieving children in our community on #GivingTuesday by donating to our campaign.
