Calvert Hospice Ranked #2 in state of Maryland for Quality of Care!

To the Families, Friends, Supporters and Advocates of Calvert Hospice:

All of us at Calvert Hospice want to thank you for trusting us with the care of your loved ones when they have a life limiting illness. When you call us, our first thought is about how we can help during these most difficult of times, how we can make sense out chaos, bring comfort and ease, and ensure that you and your family and friends are able to make the most of every moment you have together.  We know these precious moments have meant even more this past year and that they will continue to be even more meaningful throughout the upcoming holidays.

Regardless of the changes this past year has brought all of us, Calvert Hospice never missed a beat. Our clinical staff donned PPE and kept working, continuing to care for people in their homes, in assisted living, and in nursing facilities.

We are privileged to continue to meet that core mission of hospice, to provide care wherever our patients call home.

We especially wanted you to know the most recent information about the quality of our patient care:

  • As of August, Calvert Hospice was ranked #2 out of 24 hospices in the state for the quality of care based on data from Medicare’s Hospice Compare (now Care Compare).
  • On the most recent update of Medicare Care Compare (11/19/20), Calvert Hospice ranked above the national benchmark on every measure except one.
  • Calvert Hospice has been selected as one of only 18 nationwide pilot sites to beta test the new Quality Connections program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

You know Calvert Hospice. You know we are here to serve our community by providing expert and compassionate care. You know our team of professionals: Our physician, nurses, social workers, personal aides, chaplains, bereavement coordinators, and volunteers. They are mission driven and feel deeply privileged to share in this time of life with their patients and families.

Again, you know us.  We are here when our community needs us most, when our friends and neighbors need the care and support only we can provide. Call us anytime. Rest assured. We’re here.

Sincerely,

Jean E. A. Fleming, EdD, RN; Executive Director/CEO
