Grief Support Programs

Throughout the year, Calvert Hospice offers several support programs for those grieving the loss of someone close.
Programs typically run 6 – 8 weeks and explore a variety of tools and techniques to aid participants in healing and coping.


Healing Hearts – A Group for those who have lost their mother

Join us for a 4-week program that will focus on learning to live again after the loss of your mother. This program will help participants make connections with others who share similar experiences, learn coping skills to deal with grief after loss, learn about healthy grieving, process their unique feelings of grief and loss, and receive additional support surrounding the Mother’s Day holiday. To register, you can complete the online registration form with integrated payment through PayPal, or contact Trish Watson for a registration form that can be mailed with payment.

Meetings: Tuesdays, April 26 – May 17, 2022

Close to our Hearts – A Workshop for Pregnancy & Child Loss

This free workshop will allow participants the opportunity to connect with other who share similar experiences, learn coping skills to deal with grief, learn about healthy grieving, process feelings of grief and loss, and receive some additional support on Mother’s Day weekend.

Gone Without Me – A Grief Support Program for Spousal Loss

A 6-week program that will focus on learning to live again after the loss of a spouse. This program will help participants learn coping skills for dealing with grief, develop a support system with others who share a similar experience, and learn about healthy grieving. To register, you can complete the online form and payment form below, or download and print the registration form and mail with payment.

A Journey Through Grief – A Course on Finding Hope & Healing Your Heart

A 6-week program that focuses on each person’s unique journey through grief. We use the book Understanding Your Grief and the Understanding Your Grief Journal each week. Topics include factors that make grief unique, common thoughts and feelings while grieving, treating yourself with compassion, and expressing your thoughts and feelings through the journaling process. Meetings: Thursdays, March 17 – April 21 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm

Individual Grief Support Sessions

Our Bereavement Coordinator offers free sessions of individual grief support for families of hospice patients after their loved one dies. Four sessions of grief counseling are also available for community members for $35 per session. These sessions are not grief therapy. During individual grief support sessions, clients receive tools and techniques to help cope with loss and aid in healing.
