The 4th Annual Luau for Calvert Hospice took place on Thursday evening, August 11, 2016. Jeannie and Phil Stone hosted the first Luau at Stoney’s in Broomes Island in 2013 and look forward to growing this event each year! More than 370 guests enjoyed a cocktail hour where they were served Stoney’s famous crab balls and shrimp. Dinner was a selection of traditional luau affair accompanied by craft beer and tropical drinks.
Fabulous entertainment was provided by the NightLife Band as well as a performance by a hula and fire dancer duo. A Silent Auction and various raffles were featured, and guests competed for a host of gifts donated by local businesses and cash prizes. Also offered was a Fund-A-Need table that allowed guests to designate a monetary donation to a specific program or item for the Burnett Calvert Hospice House.
Forty-nine local businesses and donors provided sponsorships at various levels ranging from Platinum ($5,000) to Copper ($500) to offset the costs of the event and contribute to the more than $82,000 in funds raised.
