Volunteering: Good for you and for those you serve

Did you know that volunteering has health benefits? In a helpful article from the Mayo Clinic Health System (no longer available), six benefits are listed: decreased risk of depression, providing a sense of purpose, staying mentally and physically active, reduced stress levels, potential to live longer, and helping people meet new friends and develop new relationships. Click the link above to read the full article! Calvert Hospice volunteers experience many of these health benefits and more. Hospice volunteering is incredibly rewarding and allows volunteers to develop new relationships with our patients, their families, and our staff.
Are you interested in volunteering for Calvert Hospice? Volunteers are active in many different areas of the organization. Family service volunteers visit patients in their home and provide companionship. Administrative volunteers work in the office performing a variety of tasks like answering phones, filing, helping with mailings, data entry, and more. Shoppe for Hospice volunteers work at our upscale secondhand boutique that features new and gently used men’s and ladies’ clothing, shoes, accessories, and more. Want to learn more?
